MIPIM 2016: Spotlight on Cannes

Ah, MIPIM. The South of France. Cannes, to be precise. Just, Ah.

When the annual installment of the world’s largest property conference convenes this week (March 15-18) at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, it will mark the 27th consecutive year of leadership on the global property stage.

I remember attending five MIPIMs in a row in the late-1990s, and it was becoming a huge event even back then. Far from being a perceived “boondoggle,” MIPIM is quite literally the most important conference to attend if you want to truly grasp the globalization of the commercial real estate industry. Today the event has grown to absolutely gi-normous proportions, and requires even more advance prep work to yield the maximum results from attending. Check out the stats for 2016:

21,400 Participants

4,800 Investors

89 Countries

351 Exhibitors

2,445 Exhibiting Companies

Whether you are a MIPIM veteran or know very little about this event, thankfully organizers Reed Midem have made it easier than ever to get up to speed on this year’s mega-event.  Here are a few handy links to the most relevant MIPIM resources:
